By saying that the 47th president is a better candidate than Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, Elie Wiesel and Mother Theresa, he hopes to ensure his role at the center of things, no matter how little he understands them. He also knows that Trump wants to see profit along with flattery.
Ukraine’s offer is to give Putin pre-prepared defensive lines that Ukraine has built in its fortress belt in Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson provinces without firing a single shot.
In exchange, Ukraine would give up its long-range weapons, halve its armed forces, give up joining NATO forever, and sign over to Belarus-style vassal status under the Kremlin.

This is on top of the groundbreaking minerals deal Zelensky struck with the Trump administration, which promises U.S. control of 50 percent of profits from Ukraine’s as-yet-untapped mineral resources.
Both are very good deals for Russia. And to Trump’s industry friends. Moscow destroyed it, the US rebuilt it, and Ukraine paid protection money to Washington – forever.
Trump has set next Thursday for Ukraine to sign up. It is unclear what the “otherwise” might be since the US no longer supplies weapons to Ukraine.
Intelligence assistance comes from Washington – but the EU, Britain and others are working hard to prepare Ukraine for cutting off this flow of vital data, because the US cannot be trusted as an ally.
Former Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas came up with a better way to deal with Trump’s plan to profit from Ukraine’s surrender — without even mentioning the US president.
“Our position has not changed. For any peace plan to be successful, it has to be supported by Ukraine, and it has to be supported by Europe. If Russia really wanted peace, they would have accepted the unconditional ceasefire offer back in March.
“Russia’s mixed actions in Europe are becoming increasingly brazen. Russia is committing state-sponsored terrorism,” he said, adding that the EU, which has no power, has “a number of ways we can respond”.
