HAL terms Tejas crash as ‘an isolated’ case, assures cooperation in investigation

tejas fighter jet manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) On Monday, November 24, it said the crash of a fighter jet at the Dubai Air Show, killing its pilot, was an “isolated” incident that would not impact the company’s business performance.

Shares fell 2.58% early in the day and during trading ₹4595 each till 1:15 pm. There has been a downward trend since the accident on Friday (21 November).

HAL also said it is cooperating in the ongoing investigation and all stakeholders will be informed about any “material developments”.

“We would like to draw your kind attention that the recent incident that occurred during the air display at the Dubai Air Show is an isolated incident arising out of extraordinary circumstances,” HAL said in a regulatory exchange filing.

However, the tragic accident will not have any impact on HAL’s business operations, financial performance or its future deliveries, the company said.

The crash in Dubai on Friday was the second known incident involving the LCA Tejas fighter jet and the first in which a pilot died. The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed the death of Wing Commander Naman Syal and launched an investigation the same day.

HAL said it has extended full support and cooperation to the investigation.

The Defense Ministry had ordered 97 Tejas fighter aircraft as it would replace the MiG-21 aircraft, which were retired on September 26 after serving the Indian Air Force for more than six decades.
