An elderly couple was injured bear broke near their house California,nevada Border in search of food before going into hibernation for the winter.
In Stateline, Nevada, near the property Lake TahoeAn 87-year-old man went to his garage at about 4:30 a.m. and unexpectedly encountered Bear That’s when it was searching for food, according to the Nevada Wildlife Department.
As soon as the man stepped back bear scratched He held her hand and followed her into the house. The creature inside also scratched an 87-year-old woman. The department said the bear eventually left the home. It was not immediately clear how long the animal was inside.
The pair suffered “minor hand injuries” and were treated in hospital. He has since been released.

The department has urged residents in bear country to take safety precautions to avoid a similar incident.

Other tips include removing food, trash and other smelly items from vehicles, securing doors and windows when away or in empty rooms overnight, and installing electric fencing around beehives and chicken coops.
People who see a bear approaching their home encourage them to try to scare off the animal by banging pots and pans, yelling through an open window or sounding a car alarm.
“Yelling things like ‘Hey bear!’ or ‘Get out of here bear!’ Alerts people around you to what is happening,” the release said. “These methods can help ‘negatively condition’ bears to humans and homes and teach them that it is not okay to enter these areas.”
