New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday participated in the ‘Ekta March’ dedicated to the message of national unity and integrity organized on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the “Iron Man of India” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the ‘Unity March’ symbolizes the extraordinary spirit through which the scattered regions of India were united into a unified nation under the visionary leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
“This legacy will continue to inspire generations,” he said.
The program began with a swearing-in ceremony, during which all the dignitaries and citizens, led by the Chief Minister, took two important pledges, first, the ‘Pledge of Swadeshi’, a commitment to promote the use of products made in India, and second, a collective pledge for ‘Drug-Free India’, which aims to build a healthy and empowered nation.
He paid tribute to the visionary role of Sardar Patel in nation building. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, citizens took two important pledges on the occasion, an official statement said.
The Chief Minister urged the people present to take a collective pledge that they will follow his path and take India to new heights with the spirit of unity, integrity and harmony.
He emphasized that the feeling of national unity should remain paramount in the heart of every citizen.
The Chief Minister said that patriotism is not achieved only by sacrificing one’s life, but also by dedicating one’s day to the service of the country. He appealed to the youth and citizens to actively contribute to the nation building process.
The highlight of the program was the ‘March for Unity’, in which hundreds of people led by the Chief Minister participated from the Pitampura Sports Complex. The march was a vibrant and inspiring reflection of Sardar Patel’s visionary concept of ‘One India, Best India’.
This grand march organized at Pitampura Sports Complex concluded amidst immense enthusiasm and patriotic atmosphere.
Many dignitaries including MP Praveen Khandelwal and MLA Tilak Ram Gupta were present in this program full of national pride. All those present paid tribute to Sardar Patel and reiterated their resolve to follow his ideals.
The children gave captivating cultural presentations of music and dance beautifully highlighting the themes of patriotism and national unity.
