Srinagar, Nov 22 (IANS) The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday detained one more suspect in the ongoing investigation into the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi that left 13 people dead and 10 others injured. The officers provided this information.
SIA sources said that the agency has detained an electrician named Tufail Ahmed in Pulwama district.
Sources said the suspect was picked up from Pulwama Industrial Estate, while he is a resident of Srinagar city.
On November 10, Dr. Umar Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor working at Faridabad’s Al-Falah University, escaped arrest as his terrorist associates were arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Haryana Police from Faridabad area.
Dr. Umar Nabi detonated an i20 car at a traffic crossing near the Red Fort.
13 innocent civilians were killed and 10 others were injured in that terrorist blast.
So far, the police, NIA and Uttar Pradesh Police have picked up nine people in this white-collar terror module bust case.
How exactly Tufail Ahmed contributed to the Delhi terror conspiracy and what role he played in the entire conspiracy is still not known as the official statement will come after the interrogation of the arrested person.
His arrest came after the SIA and Jammu and Kashmir Police issued an arrest warrant for Dr Muzaffar Ahmed Rather in Kulgam in the Delhi blasts case.
Dr Muzaffar, a key accused in Qazigund, is believed to have fled India in August and may now take refuge in Afghanistan.
Investigators say he acted as a key intermediary between Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) handlers and white-collar terror networks operating in several states.
Jammu and Kashmir Police has already requested for his extradition and an Interpol Red Corner Notice to pursue the investigation.
Officials probing the Red Fort blast are probing whether the Jaish-e-Mohammed module had attempted to use hospitals in Kashmir as secret weapons storage sites.
Police recovered an AK-47 rifle from the locker of Dr Adil Rather, another terrorist associate in the module, who was later arrested.
Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested two overground workers of terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed.
His arrest exposed the white collar terrorist module.
After the arrest of Dr. Adil Rather, the police arrested Dr. Muzammil, from whom 360 kg of explosive material was recovered.
