Addressing the inaugural session of the G20 leaders’ meeting here, Modi proposed the creation of a global traditional knowledge repository under the G20 to preserve environmentally-balanced, culturally rich and socially cohesive ways of living.
“Now is the right time for us to rethink our development parameters and focus on inclusive and sustainable growth. India’s civilizational values, especially the principle of Integral Humanism, provide the way forward,” Modi said at the session ‘Leaving No One Behind in Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth’. The Prime Minister said that to overcome the challenge of proliferation of drug trafficking, especially extremely dangerous substances like fentanyl, India proposes the G20 initiative to counter the drug-terror nexus.
“Let us weaken the evil drug-terrorism economy,” he said.
“I have proposed some implementations to realize our dream of holistic development. The first of them is the creation of a G20 global repository of traditional knowledge. India has a rich history in this regard. This will help us leverage our collective knowledge for good health and well-being,” Modi said in a post on Twitter.
He said Africa’s progress is critical to global progress and proposed a G20-Africa Skills Multiplier Initiative.
“India has always stood in solidarity with Africa. I am proud of the fact that the African Union became a permanent G20 member during India’s G20 presidency,” he said.
“Our collective goal should be to produce 1 million certified trainers in Africa within the next decade,” Modi said.
He also proposed the establishment of a G20 Global Healthcare Response Team.
The Prime Minister said, “We are stronger when we work together to confront health emergencies and natural disasters. Our effort should be to create teams of trained medical experts from fellow G20 countries who are ready for rapid deployment in any emergency.”
