The Chancellor has vowed to cut the cost of living ahead of his autumn arrival Budget On 26 November. She said, “It is welcome that inflation has come down… but I believe that inflation, the cost of living, is still a huge burden on families across the country.”
“And that’s why in the Budget next week, I will take targeted action to reduce inflation to address the cost of living,” she said.
The Prime Minister and Chancellor face intense scrutiny ahead of the Budget, which is expected to see tax rises.
Ms Reeves has been urged to tax the rich; She is widely expected to raise taxes to plug the billions of pounds left in her spending plans, but she has reportedly ruled out a manifesto-destroying income tax hike.

Green Party leader Zac Polanski said Ms Reeves’ statement “should be a cost-of-living budget to reduce people’s bills and make our country affordable again”.
In a letter to the Chancellor, Mr Polanski and other leading Greens called for changes to the wealth tax as well as capital gains tax to bring it in line with income tax.
