Red Fort blast: Al Falah University orders probe; Attacker’s video reveals ‘martyrdom campaigns’

Haryana DGP OP Singh on Tuesday, November 18, visited Al Falah University in Faridabad and directed top officials to investigate the alleged security lapses that allowed members of the suspected “white-collar” terror module to use the campus as a hideout. The DGP held a joint meeting with the Faridabad Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner, directing them to trace the missing faculty members linked to the case and alert central agencies.

In a post on X, Singh said he spent four hours on campus, meeting security staff, faculty, students and locals and inspecting suspected hideouts. He asked officials to assure students about their safety and ensure that religious institutions are not misused for communal fundamentalism.

Talked to the security personnel, administrative officers, faculty, students, nearby villagers and the family of the maulvi of the mosque. Inspected the hideouts of terrorists.

Doctors associated with the premises are under investigation

many doctors joined Al Falah University Have been arrested or detained as part of the investigation. The people under investigation include:

  • Dr. Muzammil Ghani and Dr. Shaheen Saeed, who were arrested earlier in the investigation, and were associated with the university.

  • Dr Omar-un-Nabi, 28, an assistant professor at Al Falah and the alleged suicide bomber, who was driving the explosive-laden Hyundai i20 that detonated outside the Red Fort.

  • Investigators say data recovered from Omar’s damaged phone, which was obtained with the help of his brother Zahoor Elahi, allegedly includes videos in which he refers to the planned attacks as a “martyrdom campaign” and praises suicide bombings.

Authorities allege Omar was deeply radicalized after consuming violent extremist material online, including videos from Islamic State and al-Qaeda. Investigators believe he was part of an inter-state module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, spanning Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

2,900 kg explosives seized

In an extensive investigation, around 2,900 kg of explosive material including ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate and sulfur was recovered from two rented rooms in Faridabad. Officials say most of the material was stored near the university campus.

Investigators suspect that Omar was preparing a powerful VBIED attack, possibly around the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, but the blast occurred prematurely near the Red Fort.

NIA custody and frequent arrests

ED raids 25 premises linked to Al Falah Trust

separately, Enforcement Directorate searched early in the morning across Delhi-NCR, including 25 campuses affiliated with Al Falah Trust and the University. The investigators are probing alleged financial irregularities, shell companies, money laundering and discrepancies in UGC/NAAC accreditation claims.

Preliminary findings marked:

  • At least nine suspected shell companies are registered at one address.

  • Common mobile number and email used across all units.

  • Little or no HR records, EPFO/ESIC filing, or salary disbursement.

  • Alleged weak KYC and compliance trails.

ED has taken cognizance of the FIR lodged by NIA and Delhi Police.

The investigation began after Jaish posters surfaced in Srinagar on October 19. A series of arrests led authorities to the Faridabad module, which revealed that some of the accused allegedly traveled to Turkiye in 2021, where they allegedly met overground Jaish activists. The network is believed to have used Al Falah University as a key operational point.
