Chandigarh, Nov 17 (IANS) Haryana Police has arrested more than 3,000 criminals in 11 days under the recently launched ‘Operation Trackdown’, officials said, reinforcing the state government’s strong commitment to ensure security and dismantle organized crime syndicates.
According to a statement issued by Haryana Police, the intensive operation launched on November 5 has now completed its 11th day, further strengthening the grip of law enforcement across the state and instilling fear among the criminal elements. On the 11th day itself, the police arrested 96 notorious criminals involved in various crimes. With this action, the total number of arrests under Operation Trackdown has reached 3,172.
These arrests include 610 people involved in serious and heinous crimes, while the number of criminals arrested in other cases has increased to 2,562. Giving more details, IG Rakesh Arya said that on November 15, the police made eight arrests in seven murder cases and one attempt to murder case. Additionally, 29 arrests were made in 23 cases, and 27 criminals were arrested in 22 cases registered under the Arms Act for illegal possession of weapons. A total of 67 criminals were sent to jail in 54 serious cases.
To speed up the action, history sheets were opened for 19 accused persons on November 15, taking the total number of criminals with newly opened history sheets to 150. This rising figure underlines the dedication of Haryana Police to eliminate crime and shows the highly effective results of the operation in furthering the goal of making Haryana a crime free state.
In a significant development under the ongoing operation, Karnal Police arrested four notorious criminals involved in snatching and firing cases. Acting on the directions of Haryana Director General of Police, Karnal Police recorded two major achievements as part of Operation Trackdown, a special initiative aimed at curbing organized crime across the state. By showing promptness, vigilance and active strategy, the district police strengthened the law and order by arresting four criminals wanted for serious crimes.
The first major action was taken regarding the incident of robbery and snatching. On November 13, the accused and his associates robbed the complainant Kamaljeet, who was going towards Kalri Nanhera village from the canal bank. A case (number 650) was registered at Indri police station. Taking prompt action, a team led by Sub-Inspector Sumit Kumar, under the supervision of Indri police station in-charge Inspector Vipin Kumar, arrested the accused Yogesh son of Dan Singh, resident of Naurtha, Indri, Karnal.
It was told that Yogesh is a notorious and highly skilled criminal. Apart from the robbery case, he has eight additional cases registered against him at Indri police station under various serious sections including theft and offenses related to the Arms Act. After extensive interrogation, Yogesh was produced in the court and later sent to judicial custody in the district jail.
Karnal Police has achieved another success in the CNG petrol pump firing case. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police, Karnal and through continuous surveillance under Operation Trackdown, a team of Gharaunda Police Station, acting on credible information, arrested three wanted accused. These people had spread panic by firing indiscriminately after a minor dispute with a CNG pump employee in Gharaunda on the night of 13 October and fled from the spot.
The arrested persons were identified as Jitendra, son of Satpal (Panipat); Sachin alias Ricky, son of Harish Bhardwaj (Shivah, Panipat); And Deepak, son Karmaveer (Jatal, Panipat). A case was registered against him under section 109 (1) of the IPC and relevant provisions of the Arms Act in case number 624 at Gharaunda police station. All three were taken on production warrant for detailed interrogation.
The main accused Jitendra already has four serious cases registered against him including attempt to murder, rioting and fraud. After interrogation, the three accused were once again produced in the court and sent to the district jail.
