Imphal, Nov 16 (IANS) The Assam Rifles under the Indian Army’s Spear Corps captured an active People’s Liberation Army (PLA) cadre in Yaripok market of Thoubal in Manipur, an official said on Sunday.

Earlier, Assam Rifles flagged off an educational tour to Arunachal Pradesh for students and teachers of Don Bosco College, Maram, Manipur, an official said.
In a message on Twitter, Spear Corps said, “#AssamRifles under #SpearCorps flagged off Seemadarshan Tour under Operation Sadbhavana for students and teachers of Don Bosco College, Maram #Manipur. The team will explore important places in #ArunachalPradesh and visit Assam Rifles Training Center and School (ARTC&S).”
In a similar initiative, the Chennai leg of the National Unity Yatra by the Red Shield Division under the Spear Corps concluded on an inspirational note.
The students interacted with Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, visited the Officers Training Academy, visited the Egmore Museum and Marina Beach, immersing themselves in the rich culture of Chennai, it said in a statement on the occasion.
Assam Rifles flagged off the first Territorial Army Recruitment Rally from Noni, Manipur to create career awareness and opportunities in the remote areas of the state, the Spear Corps said in another statement on X.
It said the initiative aims to empower local youth and increase their participation in national service.
On Thursday, Assam Rifles conducted a comprehensive pre-medical, documentation and physical screening in Mon district of Nagaland for youth aspiring to join 164 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) (H&H) Naga.
