Srinagar, Nov 16 (IANS) An NSG forensic expert team on Sunday visited the blast site at Naugam police station in Jammu and Kashmir, where nine people were killed and 31 others were injured in an accidental blast on November 15.
The local forensic team had already sealed the area to conduct a detailed investigation into the blast.
On Sunday, a team of NSG’s Central Forensic Squad visited Naugam police station to further investigate the blast, officials said.
The central forensic team collected samples and interacted with the local FSL team and police officials.
Nine people, including a police inspector, a Naib Tehsildar, a revenue department watchman, a local tailor, three FSL team personnel and two crime branch photographers, were killed in the sudden blast, while 31 others were injured.
The blast took place around 11.20 pm on Friday when the local police were collecting samples of explosive material in the presence of an executive magistrate.
The explosive material was seized by the police during the bust of the white-collar module in Faridabad and was brought to Nowgam police station, as the original FIR in the case was lodged at Nowgam police station in Srinagar district.
The blast was widely mourned as Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered an investigation into the incident. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the accidental blast.
Jammu and Kashmir government has announced to give Rs 10 lakh each to the families of those killed and Rs 1 lakh each to the injured.
Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of the slain local people and police personnel.
Senior police officers are still visiting the bereaved families to express condolences and solidarity with the martyred policemen.
A flower laying ceremony was organized on Saturday in honor of the martyred police personnel. The ceremony was led by LG Manoj Sinha, DG NSG, DGP Jammu and Kashmir and other senior civil and police officials.
