New Delhi, November 15 (IANS) Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi discussed areas of mutual maritime interest, including intensive information sharing and maritime domain awareness, with top US commanders during his official visit. An official gave this information on Saturday.
The Chief of Naval Staff held a series of high-level meetings with “Adm Samuel J Paparo, Commander @INDOPACOM; Admiral Stephen T Kohler, Commander @USPacificFleet; and Lt Gen James F Glynn, Commander US Marine Forces Pacific.@USMC”, an Indian Navy spokesperson said in a post on Twitter.
“The deliberations reviewed key pillars of defense cooperation, including strengthening #maritime security and #maritime cooperation, enhancing #interoperability, and expanding opportunities for operational activities across the Indo-Pacific region,” he said.
“Discussions also covered priority areas of mutual maritime interest, including deeper #information sharing and maritime domain awareness, creation of mechanisms like IPMDA and engagement with @IFC_IOR.”
The talks reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the Indian Navy and the US Navy and discussed issues including security of sea lines of communication and critical maritime infrastructure; HADR and SAR missions and coordinated responses to counter-piracy and non-traditional security challenges.
Other areas of mutual interest discussed included more complex and regular bilateral/multilateral exercises to refine joint warfare, logistics and sustainment (including #Malabar, PASSEX and CMF/#Milan frameworks).
Cooperation in emerging domains – unmanned systems, ISR, cyber and space-enabled maritime operations – to enhance maritime readiness and resilience was also discussed, the statement said.
It said the talks reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the two navies, as well as the growing synergy with the US Marines and joint forces – based on mutual trust, shared values and a common commitment to free, open, inclusive and rules-based governance.
In another statement, Indian Navy spokesperson said, “#IndianNavy will host Swavalamban 2025 on 25-26 November at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi – a premier platform bringing together innovators, startups, industry and the armed forces.”
“This edition will highlight new technologies, indigenous solutions and the Navy’s drive towards #self-reliance – contributing to India’s progress towards #ViksitIndia. It is a showcase of India’s technological excellence and maritime vision for the future,” the statement said.
