Jammu, Nov 15 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Saturday expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the tragic accidental blast at Naugam police station that killed 9 people and ordered an inquiry into the incident, while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and others expressed grief over the deaths and injuries.
In a post on Twitter, the LG said: “Deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives due to the extremely tragic accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station, Srinagar. My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
“The government stands in solidarity with the families, friends and loved ones of the deceased. All possible assistance is being provided to the affected people. I have ordered an investigation to find out the cause of the accidental explosion.”
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed grief over the incident in a post on his official X handle.
Omar Abdullah’s statement said, “The Chief Minister has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station in which several people lost their lives and several personnel were injured.”
CM Omar also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of all those injured in the blast.
Former chief minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti said she was deeply saddened.
Mehbooba posted on Instagram, “This heartbreaking incident highlights the risks and difficult circumstances under which our policemen work to keep the rest of us safe. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and prayers for strength and speedy recovery for the injured.”
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hameed Karra expressed deep grief over the tragic accidental blast in Naugam. Karra expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased.
Nine people, including an officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Special Investigation Agency (SIA), two officials of the Revenue Department, three personnel of the FSL team, two photographers of the Crime Branch and a local tailor, were killed in the sudden explosion inside the Naugam police station around 11.20 pm on Friday night.
Nine people died and 29 were injured in this incident. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat has expressed regret over the unfortunate accident and termed any further speculation on the cause of the blast as “unnecessary”.
