Patna, Nov 15 (IANS) National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders on Saturday thanked the people of Bihar for giving them a massive mandate in the assembly elections and said the results reflected the public’s support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s vision for the development of the state.
In a decisive election result, the NDA went well past the majority mark of 122 seats, strengthening its hold on Bihar and leading to a landslide victory for the ruling alliance.
The tally of the alliance led by Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) was significantly boosted by the strong performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as the alliance got 202 seats.
In contrast, the opposition grand alliance comprising Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and Left parties suffered a major setback.
Minister Ashok Choudhary expressed his gratitude to the voters along with the five alliance partners for reposing their trust in the partnership of CM Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “This tremendous victory in Bihar reflects peace, stability and development. Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, the people have strengthened the mandate. We are also especially grateful to PM Modi, Chirag, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha. As a strong team, we fought together and won a decisive victory.”
JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha said that NDA was confident from the beginning.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “Though we did not predict the exact number of seats, we knew that we were heading towards a big victory. But the reason behind this spectacular victory was that the Chief Minister’s good governance for 20 years shaped Bihar.”
“Also, in the last two years, ever since the NDA formed the government at the Centre, there has been huge support from the Centre, especially from the Prime Minister. This double engine government is the way Bihar will develop as a top state and the people of the state believe in it,” Jha said.
LJP(R) MP Shambhavi Choudhary described the result as a “huge victory”.
Choudhary told IANS, “In many ways, you can say that our entire NDA leadership sought votes on the basis of development. The people of Bihar have rejected Jungle Raj and Gunda Raj, and have elected a strong and stable NDA government. The people of Bihar have given a clear message that the present and future of the state is safe in the hands of the NDA.”
JDU state president Umesh Kushwaha reiterated that the alliance was hopeful of victory.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “We had already said that we will win. All the NDA leaders worked together and there was strong coordination from top to bottom among our workers. People appreciated the work and achievements of our leader Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and trusted him.”
Elected MLA Shyam Rajak said that the mandate is of the people.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “This victory belongs to the people of Bihar. Who had full faith in our leader Nitish Kumar and NDA and voted on the basis of his work and elected him to become the Chief Minister again. We express our gratitude to all the voters of Bihar.”
LJP(R) candidate from Mahua, Sanjay Kumar Singh, who contested against Jan Shakti Janata Dal founder Tej Pratap Yadav, said the comprehensive results showed that people have chosen development.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “Across Bihar, people have given an overwhelming majority to the NDA. This shows their faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This is a victory for his vision, his policies and the positive ideology he represents. The public believes that this leadership can really bring development in Bihar.”
