New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) Leaders of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) lauded the alliance’s landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, terming it a decisive mandate for development and rejecting “false narratives” put forward by the opposition.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the results reflected the confidence of the people in the BJP-led alliance.
“The way the NDA has won under the leadership of BJP shows that it is a victory of development and faith. This victory is a slap on those who tried to mislead people with their false narrative and it marks the end of Jungle Raj,” he told IANS.
Expressing similar sentiments, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj thanked voters for rejecting the “politics of lies” of the Congress and RJD.
Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra said the mandate proved that Bihar had risen above caste discrimination and voted. He said, “People showed full confidence in Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.”
Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht said the decision acknowledged efforts to end lawlessness in the state.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the BJP-led NDA’s stellar performance in the Bihar Assembly elections was a mandate against the ‘jungle raj’ and appeasement policy of the grand alliance parties.
Addressing a gathering of party workers and supporters at the BJP headquarters, PM Modi said he has made two specific requests to the voters of Bihar – cast their votes in record numbers and give a strong mandate to the NDA. He said that the people of Bihar heard his request and gave a strong mandate to the NDA.
He said, “The people of Bihar have voted for a developed Bihar. The people of Bihar have voted for a prosperous Bihar. During the election campaign, I had requested the people of Bihar for record voting and the people of Bihar have broken all the records. I had requested the people of Bihar to ensure a massive victory for the NDA and the people of Bihar have also honored my request.”
Taking a dig at the Muslim-Yadav (MY) equation used by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as its support base to appease certain sections, he said the youth of Bihar have chosen a new MY formula for such people.
“The people of Bihar have given a new meaning to MY-Women and Youth. Their dreams and aspirations have completely superseded the MY formula, as pushed by some parties to achieve their political interests,” he said.
