Kolkata, Nov 14 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has done everything to protect the real culprits in the RG Kar rape and murder case, the victim’s mother told a Kolkata trial court on Friday.
He said, “CBI is allegedly India’s most high-profile investigating agency. But they have done whatever was necessary to protect the real culprits in the case. The CBI investigating officer did not respond to our calls. They have not yet filed the supplementary charge sheet in the case.”
The victim’s parents also requested to give a confidential statement before the Judicial Magistrate in this case.
However, CBI counsel objected to this decision.
On Friday, the CBI presented its seventh status report on the progress of investigation in the case and told the court that 11 new people have been interrogated by the CBI in the case.
The same trial court also identified Sanjay Roy, a former civilian volunteer posted with Kolkata Police, as the sole culprit in the rape and murder of a female junior doctor in August last year and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
At present, the CBI is investigating the “larger conspiracy” aspect behind this crime.
From the very beginning, the victim’s parents have been accusing the Central Investigation Agency of negligence in the second phase of investigation.
However, this is the first time that the victim’s mother has directly accused the CBI of doing anything to protect the main culprits in the case.
On Friday, even the female CBI officers present in the court were overwhelmed by the emotional outburst of the victim’s mother.
Later, after the hearing was over, the female CBI officer came out of the court room with tears in her eyes.
She told the media persons in a tearful voice, “I am also a mother.”
