After an impressive 80 per cent turnout on November 11, the constituency witnessed a fierce triangular contest between the BJP, Congress and an independent candidate. The results are being closely monitored across the political spectrum of Rajasthan.
Anta Assembly by-election is a keenly watched electoral contest that has attracted attention across the state. The counting process began at 8 am in the seminar hall of Baran PG College on 14 counting tables amid tight security and structured arrangements, with a total of 19 rounds scheduled.
Postal ballots are being counted first, followed by EVM votes and home voting will be tabulated separately.
This by-election has turned into a very triangular fight. Morpal Suman is contesting from BJP and he was specially present at the counting centre. The Congress is being represented by senior leader Pramod Jain Bhaya, although he has not yet reached the venue; His representative Bhagwan Dadhich is monitoring the proceedings on his behalf.
Independent candidate Naresh Meena, who is expected to make a dent in the traditional vote banks of major parties, was also absent when the strong room was opened.
The presence and strategies of all three candidates have contributed to a competitive electoral environment. Voter enthusiasm has been remarkably high.
Of the 2,28,264 registered voters in the constituency, 1,83,099 cast their votes, resulting in an overall turnout of 80 per cent. Male voting percentage was 82.32 percent, female voting percentage was 78 percent and third gender voting percentage was 75 percent.
Voting took place at 268 polling stations, including 15 booths where turnout was over 90 per cent – a testament to the strong voter participation.
As the counting progresses, political observers are closely monitoring the early trends, anticipating a close contest in this triangular contest.
Local leaders said the final results would not only determine the next MLA from Anta but could also affect regional political dynamics within Rajasthan.
