oakland Police The department said it is investigating a shooting that happened just before noon at Laney College, where officers arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown.

“The individual was immediately transported to a local hospital, and we are keeping them and their loved ones in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time,” Johnson said. “Out of respect for his privacy, we are not releasing his name at this time.”
Authorities did not immediately provide further details about the shooting.
John Beam, the school’s athletics director and longtime football coach, and Lanny Eagles were featured in the 2020 season Netflix Documentary series “Last Chance U.” The documentary focused on athletes from junior colleges who want to turn their lives around.
Thursday’s incident came a day after a student was shot at Oakland’s Skyline High School. The condition of the student is stable. Police say they arrested two teenagers and recovered two firearms.
