PM Modi pays tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 136th birth anniversary

New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as India celebrated the 136th birth anniversary of its first Prime Minister.

Paying tribute on social media, PM Modi posted on Instagram, “Tributes to former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji on the occasion of his birth anniversary.”

Nehru, popularly known as Chacha Nehru, is celebrated not only for his leadership in shaping modern India but also for his deep affection and concern for children.

14 November is celebrated as Children’s Day (Children’s Day) across the country, celebrating Nehru’s enduring legacy and his deep affection for children.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute to the country’s first Prime Minister, sharing on Twitter, “We need a generation of peace.” Quoting Nehru, he said, “Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s legacy stands as a timeless beacon, illuminating the idea of ​​India and the values ​​he cherished – freedom, democracy, secularism and scientific temper. His vision inspires our conscience and shapes our collective actions.”

In another post, the party recalled Nehru’s love for children, saying, “I fondly remember Chacha Nehru, who believed that children were the future of the country. Congress carried forward his dream through the Right to Education, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the Mid-day Meal Scheme, empowering every child to learn and grow.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also joined the nationwide tribute, writing on Instagram, “On the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji, I pay my humble tributes to him.”

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, born on November 14, 1889, played an important role in India’s freedom struggle and in shaping the democratic and secular structure of the country.
