Guwahati, Nov 13 (IANS) Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said the Assam government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against people sympathizing with Pakistan and at least 100 social media accounts are under the scanner of security forces.
“We have already arrested 17 people across the state for posting on their social media profiles praising the blast in the national capital. The government will not tolerate any pro-Pakistan activities sitting on Indian soil and all cases will be dealt with extremely strictly,” Sarma told reporters here.
The Chief Minister mentioned that at least 100 social media profiles in the state are under the scanner of security forces, and more arrests would be made if pro-Pakistan posts were seen on social media handles.
“Action against Pakistan supporters has started in the state and it will continue until these anti-national elements are completely eliminated,” he said.

He said the government has directed the police to take strict action against any attempt to disturb communal harmony or spread hatred through online platforms.
CM Sarma wrote on Twitter, “So far 15 people have been arrested across Assam in connection with objectionable social media posts after the Delhi blasts. Assam Police shows no compromise against those who glorify violence.”
According to the Chief Minister, nine people were arrested overnight in addition to the six arrests made earlier. The latest arrests include Rafizul Ali from Bongaigaon, Forid Uddin Laskar from Hailakandi, Enamul Islam and Firoz Ahmed alias Papon from Lakhimpur, Shahil Shoman Sikdar alias Shahidul Islam and Rakibul Sultan from Barpeta, Naseem Akram from Hojai, Taslim Ahmed from Kamrup and Abdur Rohim Mollah alias Bappi Hussain from South Salmara.
