Mathura, Nov 13 (IANS) Bageshwar Dham chief priest Dhirendra Krishna Shastri entered the holy city of Mathura on Thursday as part of his ‘Sanatan Ekta Padyatra’.
The objective of this march is to spread the message of Hindu unity and underline the importance of Sanatan Dharma.
The march, now in its seventh day, was given a grand welcome by devotees at every stop from the UP-Haryana border to Mathura with shower of flowers and slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Before entering Mathura, Shastri reportedly felt unwell at the UP-Haryana border and had to rest for a while on the roadside. However, showing amazing determination, he resumed the journey after eating a simple meal of pickles and ‘paratha’.
Salute to ASP Anuj Chaudhary
Mathura witnessed a heart-touching moment when Shastri witnessed the efficient security arrangements led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anuj Chaudhary. Shastri was impressed by the alertness and discipline of the police team providing security. As a result, Shastri personally saluted ASP Chaudhary. This was seen as a sign of mutual respect and goodwill between spiritual leaders and law enforcement.
The padayatra is set to cover a distance of about 55 kilometers in the Mathura region in the next four days. Extensive security measures have been taken to manage the huge crowd of devotees and the entire yatra and the policemen are doing a tremendous job.
Mathura city witnessed a scene of devotion and celebration as devotees dressed as Hanuman, tableaux depicting Lord Ram and Sita were seen on the streets and continuous chanting echoed on the streets.
During his address, Shastri strongly condemned the violence while referring to the Delhi blasts. “We don’t want riots, we want Ganga-purity and peace,” he said firmly.
He also appealed to religious leaders to inspire children to become visionaries like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
