Maoists killed in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh identified, police released information

Raipur/Bijapur, November 13 (IANS) Bijapur Police has identified all the six Maoists killed in the encounter that took place on November 11 in the National Park area of ​​Bijapur district.

The joint operation by the District Reserve Guards of Bijapur and Dantewada along with the Special Task Force was launched after intelligence inputs confirmed the presence of senior Maoist leaders and dozens of armed cadres in the forests of Kandulnar, Kachalaram and Gujjakonta.

The encounter began at 10 am and intermittent firing continued until six bodies were recovered along with a cache of weapons including two INSAS rifles, a 9 mm carbine, a .303 rifle, a pistol, explosives and Maoist-related material.

Among those killed was DVCM Kanna alias Buchanna Kudiam, 35, a resident of Guddipal in Bijapur district.

He carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh and was considered one of the most dangerous Maoist leaders in the region, implicated in 42 criminal cases and 18 pending warrants.

Their record includes attacks on police camps, killing of villagers suspected of being informers, multiple IED blasts, arson, robbery and the murder of two teachers earlier this year.

Another key cadre was DVCM Urmila, wife of top Maoist leader Paparao, resident of Chintalnar in Sukma district.

He carried a reward of eight lakh rupees and served as the secretary of the Pamed area committee and played an important role in logistics, recruitment and ideological propaganda.

The other four Maoists identified were ACM Jagat Tamo alias Motu, resident of Fullload, Jangla, Bijapur, serving in the abortion committee and carrying a reward of Rs five lakh; PM Deve of Mengatta, Bijapur, member of the committee carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh; PM Bhagat of Bhairamgarh, Bijapur, member of the committee with a reward of Rs 2 lakh; and PM Mangali Oyam of Pedestjojer, Ganglore, Bijapur, a party member carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sunderraj P along with senior officials of Dantewada, STF and CRPF briefed the media at Bijapur district headquarters.

He said the operation has significantly weakened Maoist influence in West and South Bastar divisions and examination of the recovered documents and digital devices is expected to reveal further links to the Maoist urban network.
