Patna, Nov 13 (IANS) As counting of votes for the much-awaited Bihar Assembly elections begins on November 14, the NDA on Thursday expressed full confidence that Nitish Kumar will once again become the Chief Minister for the 10th time. However, opposition parties have also expressed hope about forming the next government in the state.
Speaking to IANS, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal said, “The people of Bihar have given their mandate, and voters across the state participated with great enthusiasm. With the development work done by the Bihar government as well as the trust that people have in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NDA will once again form the government with an overwhelming majority. This time, it’s an NDA government!”
He said, “There was no need for re-polling anywhere and no incidents of violence were reported. This shows the confidence of the people in the government. The voting percentage was also very high and voting was peaceful across the state. This clearly indicates that the NDA government will be formed again.”
JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said, “The people of Bihar no longer want Tejashwi Yadav, who faces many allegations. He will keep losing because the India Bloc has suffered losses under his leadership. The people of Bihar trust the NDA, and they want Nitish Kumar to take charge as chief minister for the 10th time.”
BJP leader Ramkripal Yadav also expressed confidence in NDA’s victory.
He said, “We know the result even before the counting of votes. NDA will form the government with an overwhelming majority and Nitish Kumar will once again become the Chief Minister.”
LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi Choudhary also expressed similar sentiments, saying, “Of course, the opposition will make claims – it is part of politics. But these statements have no factual basis. The NDA is once again ready to form the government with full majority and full strength. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will once again take oath.”
Meanwhile, opposition parties have also expressed confidence in their prospects.
Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput said, “We are waiting for the results, but we have no faith in the exit polls sponsored by the government or the BJP. We have faith in the people’s votes and are confident that the grand alliance will get an overwhelming majority and form the government in Bihar. The NDA had also claimed that it would win in Uttar Pradesh, but the grand alliance performed strongly there. We are confident of a similar result in Bihar too.”
RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari said, “Tomorrow, when the results come, the people of Bihar will win. As the sun rises in the east, the Grand Alliance government is certain to be formed. The public has voted for change, and every vote will be counted. Tonight will be a long night for the NDA.”
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the counting of votes and declaration of trends for the Bihar Assembly elections will begin at 8 am, with the final results expected by the evening.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, the second phase of polling was conducted peacefully on Tuesday with 68.79 per cent turnout, while data from around 2,000 polling stations is still pending.
Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, held in two phases on November 6 and 11, saw record voter participation. Most exit polls released on Tuesday predicted a decisive victory for the BJP-led NDA and a setback for the grand alliance led by the RJD and Congress in the high-stakes contest.
Several polling agencies have projected a comfortable majority for the NDA, predicting it to easily cross the halfway mark of 122 seats, while the Grand Alliance appeared to be struggling to touch the 100-seat mark.
Most of the seven leading pollsters have predicted a clear majority for the BJP-led NDA, while three have predicted its tally to cross 160 seats. For the Grand Alliance, most forecasts put it in double digits, with some giving it a possible upper limit of around 100 seats.
As Bihar awaits the final results, political tension is rising, with both the alliances – NDA and Grand Alliance – claiming victory ahead of the decisive counting day.
