Amaravati, Nov 12 (IANS) The TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday released Rs 90 crore for the monthly honorarium of Imams and Muezzins.

Minority Welfare Minister N. MD Farooq said that the Chief Minister announced in the Minority Welfare Day program on Tuesday that the government will release funds to give honorarium to Imams and Muezzins. He said that the government fulfilled the promise within 24 hours.
State Finance Secretary V. Vinay Chand issued orders to this effect on Wednesday.
Minister Farooq revealed that funds have also been released to pay honorarium for April, May and June 2024, which was kept pending by the previous YSR Congress Party government.
The minister reminded that the government had released Rs. for honorarium from July to December 2024. Rs 45 crore in February this year. This amount was deposited in their accounts.
He said Rs 90 crore has been released for nine months from January to September this year and also for the three months kept pending by the previous government.
Minister Farooq described Chandrababu Naidu as a big supporter of minorities. He said that the minorities of the state will never forget the efforts made by Chandrababu Naidu for the welfare of minorities.
He alleged that during the tenure of the previous government, an attempt was made to completely weaken the welfare of minorities. He said that the coalition government is committed to fulfilling the promises made to the people.
The minister said that the coalition government led by CM Chandrababu will move forward actively to implement its promises.
He reminded that Chandrababu Naidu had taken the initiative to give honorarium to Imams and Muezzins during the tenure of TDP government. He said payments were stopped for months during the YSRCP regime.
He thanked Chief Minister Naidu for fulfilling his promise by releasing the funds within 24 hours.
