Amaravati, Nov 12 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday said regional political parties cannot ignore national security or keep it aside as a concern of national parties only.

The Jana Sena leader said national security should be an immediate and topmost priority on the agenda of every political party in India.

In a detailed post on ‘X’, the actor-politician also expressed concern over the roots of terrorism spreading rapidly across the country.

He said that the ultimate responsibility for the security and strength of India rests on every citizen.

Pawan Kalyan wrote, “The roots and nexus of terrorism are spreading rapidly across the country and reaching the hearts of our communities. This is not a distant problem. Recently, a terror plot linked to ISIS ideology, which began with arrests in Vizianagaram, was successfully foiled by the NIA and other agencies, thereby preventing planned IED attacks targeting the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The sobering reality is that today security threats and terrorists “Attacks are now emanating randomly from sleepy towns and quiet villages.”

Asserting that national security is not the exclusive function of the Central government alone, he said this duty extends to every state government, every government department and every local body – from the gram panchayat to the national capital.

He said, “Each individual bears an undeniable, shared responsibility. Regional political parties cannot ignore or set aside national security as a mere concern of national parties; it must be the immediate, topmost priority in the agenda of every political party in India, irrespective of the region they represent. No politics can be placed above the security of the country.”

Deputy CM expressed concern over increasing fundamentalism.

“Radicalization is actively happening on our streets and in our neighbourhoods, and we, being the people, are tragically turning a blind eye. This pervasive threat demands that every single institution becomes a bastion of defence. Every neighborhood in the country, every school, every college, every university, every office, every business organisation, every religious institution and every police station must be on high alert. Constant vigilance is not just the responsibility of the government; it is the fundamental, primary responsibility of every citizen in India. Cost Complacency Tolerance There’s too much to do.”

He said, “External enemies can be fought and the borders can be defended by our brave armed forces. But who will protect us from the divisive forces constantly working to break the country from within? The threats posed by pseudo-secularism, appeasement politics and incitement of linguistic and regional pride over national sovereignty are not mere political tools – they are a deep, calculated ploy to undermine the foundations of our democracy.”

Pawan Kalyan called upon citizens, especially the youth, not to become mere spectators and waste their energy and efforts on petty issues and manufactured outrage. “While we are immersed in battles over religion, caste, language and regional politics, external elements are attempting to destroy the civilization and soul of India. Look beyond the noise, be responsible. The ultimate responsibility for India’s security and strength rests on every citizen.”

He praised the people of intelligence and security forces and described them as true and unsung heroes.

“These patriots serve our country day and night, quietly, never seeking any recognition. Their silent work prevents unimaginable mass casualties and preserves the security and peace of our country. They prevent disasters that we civilians cannot even think about. Imagine the horror that was averted just days ago – what could have happened if those 2,900 kilograms of IED-making material, hidden stores of assault rifles, or ricin Had the deadly plans to deploy poison not been foiled? We owe it to all of them to neutralize the destruction before it even touched our streets.’
