Now ‘Jhalkari Bai Koli’ has also been included in this scheme.
In the cabinet, CM Gupta said that the brave woman Jhalkari Bai Koli is a symbol of the indomitable story of bravery in the Indian freedom struggle and the inclusion of her in this scheme by the Delhi government is an important step towards honoring her contribution.
He informed that under this scheme, registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are assisted in celebrating the birth or death anniversaries of these eminent personalities.
Maximum financial assistance of Rs. Rs 50,000 has been earmarked for each event.
He further said that this decision of the Delhi Government reflects the government’s continued commitment to honor the contribution of national heroes who have played an important role in India’s history and social transformation.
He further said that Jhalkari Bai Koli was a brave freedom fighter and one of the most respected figures of the First War of Independence of 1857, who served in the army of Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi.
“She was known for her extraordinary courage, unwavering patriotism and leadership and played a vital role during the historic siege of Jhansi. Her life epitomizes the strength and bravery of Indian women who stood up against colonial oppression,” the CM said.
The CM said, “Inclusion of veteran Jhalkari Bai Koli in this scheme is not just an administrative decision, but a step to strengthen the spirit of social justice and equality.”
The Chief Minister also said that many organizations of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes had long demanded that the birth anniversary of warrior Jhalkari Bai Koli be included in the scheme.
