Patna, Nov 12 (IANS) Grand alliance chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday said the grand alliance will form the government in Bihar after the November 14 results, and rejected exit poll projections in favor of the NDA.
Addressing a press conference at his official residence-cum-office in Patna, Tejashwi said turnout increased sharply in this election compared to 2020, with more than 72 lakh additional voters exercising their franchise.
“This is a huge number of voters. The voting percentage is about 10 per cent higher than the last election, about 72 lakh more voters. This means about 29,000 additional votes at each polling station, and these votes were cast to change the government,” he said.
Tejashwi said ground feedback indicated an even better performance than 1995, and he predicted a decisive victory for the Grand Alliance.
“There will be change in Bihar – people have voted for change. BJP leaders are uneasy because they know they are facing a big defeat. The grand alliance is getting a huge majority in this election and we will take oath on November 18,” he said.
Tejashwi rejected the exit polls released on Tuesday, questioned their functioning and accused many news channels of bias.
“What is the relevance of these exit polls? What was their sample size? I believe they were instructed by Amit Shah to favor the NDA. Many channels had earlier given the NDA more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha and predicted results in West Bengal and Jharkhand, which did not come true,” he said. He said that such polls create pressure on officials.
He warned that his team will remain alert from the strong room to the counting centres.
He said, “Your tricks will not work in Bihar, the land of democracy. We are alert and will not allow vote rigging.”
Tejashwi also criticized the deployment of central security forces and alleged that the central government uses the flag march to put pressure on officials in Bihar.
He claimed, “They conducted a flag march here – an action they would not do in Delhi after the blast – only to put pressure on the authorities here.”
