Imphal, Nov 11 (IANS) Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta on Tuesday visited tribal-dominated Churachandpur and reviewed the work of various departments.
During his visit, the Union Minister interacted with the district administration, beneficiaries of government schemes and members of displaced communities. He held a review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, where Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, along with district level officials, representatives of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and scheme beneficiaries were present.
A program was organized at the Mini Secretariat where the district administration reiterated its commitment towards inclusive growth and welfare. The awards were presented to five ethnic violence-affected displaced students who excelled in the board examinations, highlighting the government’s emphasis on education and support for displaced families.
The event also saw distribution of benefits under key flagship schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).
The participants who performed excellently in various competitions organized on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day 2025 were also honoured.
Minister Tamta presented special awards to the Chief Executive Officer of Autonomous District Council, Seminthang Lalthazam, ADC, Churachandpur and two Aspirational Block Program (ABP) Fellows to recognize their contribution in local development initiatives.
After the felicitation ceremony, the Minister reviewed the progress of departmental work under various central and state schemes.
He interacted with officials of several departments and aspirational blocks, appreciated their efforts and assured continued central support to address local challenges and strengthen implementation at the grassroots level.
Last week, Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur visited various districts of Manipur and reviewed the implementation of various central and state government projects and schemes.
