Bengaluru, Nov 11 (IANS) The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday asked whether Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was trying to take political advantage even amid a crisis like the Red Fort blast in Delhi.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, while talking to the media on Tuesday, said that the Chief Minister has given a political statement and after hearing it, I was deeply disappointed.

BJP leader Narayanaswamy said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Delhi bomb blasts will impact Bihar elections. This will give a blow to BJP and Congress and Bharat alliance will get favorable results.”

He demanded that the Chief Minister should first apologize to the people of the state and stressed that such sensitive issues should not be mixed with politics or elections.

He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of showing extreme irresponsibility and said that he strongly condemns this statement.

BJP leader Narayanaswami also said, “The Prime Minister has made it clear very subtly that the Delhi terror attack will be answered as per the ‘Sindoor Model’. But still some Congress leaders sitting in the opposition are talking irresponsibly.”

“Between 2004 and 2014, during the Congress-led UPA government, there were an average of 4,000 terrorist incidents per year,” he said.

“After our government came to power in 2014, this number dropped to only 1,000 to 1,500 per year. In 2025, there have been only 629 incidents so far. It is clear to anyone that our government has successfully controlled terrorism.”

He also said that a meeting of Rajya Sabha members was called on Tuesday regarding the upcoming Belagavi legislative session.

“We discussed many issues. Legislative Council Speaker Basavaraj Horatti has already said that the session can start from December 8, but the state government has not taken any decision yet,” he said.

“We discussed the issues to be raised, our conduct in the session, how to hold the government accountable and highlight its failures, corruption and lack of development. The entire North Karnataka region has been neglected. The state government has not addressed the problems of the farmers,” he alleged.

The leader of opposition in the Legislative Council said, “It was only after the BJP took to the streets that the state government gave small-scale relief to sugarcane growers. Apart from issuing statements about flood relief, no funds have been released. Keeping all these problems in mind, we discussed how to effectively debate them in the session. We have already made strategies to corner the government in the House.”

Commenting on the question why incidents like Delhi blasts happen during elections, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the Center should answer why such blasts happen during elections.

“Let the central government investigate this,” he underlined.

This statement is likely to create controversy.

When reporters, referring to the recent Delhi blasts, asked why bomb blasts happen during elections and whether it could affect Bihar elections, CM Siddaramaiah replied: “The Center should answer why such blasts happen during elections. Let the Central government investigate and answer. Such incidents are tragic – it is extremely unfortunate that innocent people lose their lives.”

When asked whether India was becoming a nation defined by religion, CM Siddaramaiah replied, “India is a constitutionally plural country, not a mono-religion country.”
