South Park creators explain reason behind recent focus on Trump
The latest season of the Comedy Central classic has repeatedly mocked and insulted the president and its sharp political focus has been rewarded with huge increases in viewership.
In a new interview, show co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker say they found it impossible to escape the Trump administration.
“It’s not like we’ve all become political,” Parker said. “What happened was that politics became pop culture.”

The president has lashed out at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, accusing the longtime MAGA firebrand of trying to ingratiate herself with Democrats by criticizing her recent pursuit of foreign peace agreements and her lack of attention to the kitchen table issues that propelled her back to the White House.

How quickly will SNAP food stamps become available again once the government reopens?
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program payments — also known as food stamps — are at the center of an ongoing legal battle amid the government shutdown.
SNAP funding expired on November 1, but as we’ve seen, the government could be on track to reopen now, depending on how the House of Representatives votes on Wednesday.
SNAP funds, which are distributed to states each month by the federal government, support about one in eight families, who receive an average of $188 per month per person, or about $6 per day.
Those funds are administered onto prepaid cards that can be used to pay for groceries.
As the shutdown began in November, many of the 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP benefits to feed their families have been left uncertain when they will get their benefits.

Donald Trump waits, pen at the ready, as the shutdown nears its end
The president has so far been uncharacteristically quiet about the Republican victory in the Senate, preferring instead to put mild pressure on the US Supreme Court as it affects the legality of his tariff program, celebrate his Oval Office meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa and wish the US Marine Corps a happy 250th birthday.
His last direct comment on the shutdown was yesterday’s royal directive: “ALL AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS MUST RETURN TO WORK NOW!!! Anyone who does not do so will be ‘docked’ for quite a while.” For those air traffic controllers who were great patriots, and who took no leave for the ‘Democrat Shutdown Hoax,’ I would recommend a bonus of $10,000 per person for distinguished service to our country.

Chuck Schumer faces calls for resignation
Stewart, a regular critic of the veteran Senate minority leader’s low-energy brand of leadership, wasn’t the only one to attack the veteran New Yorker over this week’s surrender.
Representatives Ro Khanna, Rashida Tlaib, Mike Levin, Glenn Ivey, Delia Ramirez, Seth Moulton, Mr. Thanedar, Veronica Escobar and Sylvia Garcia are among those who have already called on Schumer to step down.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries endorsed Schumer on Monday, responding in the affirmative when asked if his colleague should remain in office and that he is an effective leader.
Interestingly, despite the anger against Schumer, a report has come out Axios The suggestion is that had it not been for his intervention the senators concerned would have already folded.
The site reported yesterday that Schumer was privately convincing some moderates, who were ready to open the government just two weeks after the shutdown, to hold off until at least early November.
It is not clear that the group of moderates was large enough to enact legislation to fund the government.
