Bengaluru, Nov 11 (IANS) Former BJP national general secretary and MLC CT Ravi, responding to criticism against the Center regarding the Delhi blasts, said the BJP will never feed biryani to terrorists, the central government will accept accountability and also demonstrate its ability to deal with threats. Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, Ravi claimed on Monday that before 2014, bomb blasts were a common occurrence across the country, but such incidents have largely stopped in recent years. “Now, terrorists seem to be raising their heads again,” he warned, adding that there were reports of conspiracies involving the use of chemicals for mass killings. He said doctors and engineers were also involved in these networks, calling it a “deeply disturbing development”. Emphasizing the need to trace the roots of terrorism, Ravi asked, “Who is training them? Who is funding them? Where are they getting inspiration from?” He urged authorities to treat the latest incident not as an isolated case, but as part of a larger pattern that threatens national security. “Such acts are dangerous to humanity and should be taken very seriously,” he said. Ravi also criticized the Karnataka government and alleged that terrorists were getting access to mobile phones inside jails. He described the situation as “a dangerous policy failure”, adding, “From inside the jail, they can hatch conspiracies. Tomorrow, such crimes may also be difficult to prove in court.” He accused the government of negligence. “If jails are turning into resorts where prisoners get access to phones, then the government should take responsibility,” he said. Responding to Congress leader and minister Priyank Kharge’s allegation that the Union Home Minister has failed, Ravi said some people with “malicious intentions” cannot be reasoned with. “Priyank Kharge is one of them,” he said, recalling that during the tenure of the UPA government, bomb blasts were frequent in Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai. Ravi claimed that under the BJP government, there is “zero tolerance towards terrorism”. He cited the Pahalgam operation and the surgical strikes after Pulwama as examples of India’s decisive response under the current regime. He commented, “When Mumbai was attacked by terrorism, the Congress-led government served biryani to the terrorists. The BJP would never do that.” Commenting on the opposition’s questions about the Prime Minister’s whereabouts during the blast, Ravi referred to a reported statement by former Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram that the then Prime Minister had refused to allow a strong government response. “Chidambaram himself exposed this publicly. He was not from the BJP, but a senior Congress leader,” Ravi said. Responding to the demand for the Center to accept responsibility, Ravi said that the Central government will accept accountability and will also demonstrate its capability to deal with the threats. Taking a dig at Priyank Kharge, Ravi said, “He thinks he is more intelligent than Sarvajna (great Kannada philosopher). If Sarvajna were alive today, Kharge would probably claim that he gave birth to him.” Ravi clarified that the BJP has no links with the Taliban, adding that India’s relations are only with the Afghan government. He concluded, “BJP has never embraced terrorists. We have never had anything to do with them.” –IANS mka/red
