New Delhi, November 11 (IANS) Following the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station, BJP MP from Chandni Chowk Praveen Khandelwal on Tuesday said that the government will take swift action after the investigation is completed. Speaking to IANS, Khandelwal said, “Security agencies are investigating from every angle and the government will take prompt action once all inputs are received and the investigation is concluded.” The statement comes as multiple agencies are investigating the car blast that rocked the national capital on Monday evening. Investigation has revealed that the Hyundai i20 car used in the blast was purchased from a second-hand car dealer in Sector 37 of Faridabad, Haryana. The powerful blast took place near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort metro station, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens. The impact also caused damage to nearby vehicles and infrastructure. In response, high alert has been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Mumbai and security has been tightened at crowded public places, metro stations and religious places. Officials confirmed that the incident occurred just hours after police busted a terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in Faridabad. During the operation, officials seized 290 kg of ammonium nitrate and a large cache of weapons. Two doctors from Jammu and Kashmir – Adil Ahmed Rather and Muzammil – were arrested for their alleged links with terrorist organizations. Sources say the arrests may have caused panic within the module, leading to the blast in Delhi. The investigation has also revealed the involvement of Dr Mohammad Omar, who allegedly drove the i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort. Umar, who was killed in the blast, was a resident of Koil village in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. He was an MBBS graduate from Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar. Police have detained his two brothers and mother for questioning, while his father is reportedly mentally challenged. Meanwhile, shops in the nearby markets in front of the Red Fort are closed after the incident. NIA teams have reached the spot for investigation. Additional CP Pramod Singh Kushwaha of Special Cell is also present on the spot. As security agencies continue to scan CCTV footage and unearth clues, the government has reiterated its commitment to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice. –IANS rs/dpb
