Patna, Nov 11 (IANS) As voting continues for the second and final phase of Bihar assembly elections, voters on Tuesday shared their expectations from the next government. Many also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the current administration. IANS spoke to voters from many districts of Bihar. One voter said, “We want a government that can keep us safe, prioritize education across the state and increase job opportunities.” Another voter said, “We are voting for development. The present government is good for us. I urge first-time voters to come forward and exercise their right to vote.” A third voter said, “We want the next government to bring positive changes and focus more on improving education. Progress and new ideas are needed.” “Yes, I am very happy. I am happy to exercise my franchise,” said a voter in Bhagalpur. In Bagaha, another voter shared, “I have cast my vote. Earlier, I voted in the name of development, and I will continue to do so. The way the government is working today – hospitals are being built in our Bagaha, and bridges are being constructed – gives us hope.” A first-time voter in Laukaha expressed his excitement, saying, “I was very excited to vote for the first time.” Meanwhile, peaceful voting is going on in 122 assembly seats across 20 districts in the second and final phase of state elections in Bihar, which began at 7 am on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission, till 11 am, 31.38 percent votes were cast. In the first four hours, the highest turnout was in Kishanganj at 34.74 percent, while in Madhubani it was 28.66 percent. According to the Election Commission of India, 32.39 percent voting took place in West Champaran, 31.16 percent in East Champaran, 31.58 percent in Sheohar, 29.81 percent in Sitamarhi, 28.66 percent in Madhubani, 31.69 percent in Supaul, 31.88 percent in Araria, 34.74 percent in Kishanganj, 32.94 percent. Voting was 30.83 percent in Purnia and 29.08 percent in Katihar. Apart from this, 32.91 percent voting took place in Banka, 31.98 percent in Kaimur, 29.80 percent in Rohtas, 31.07 percent in Arwal, 30.36 percent in Jehanabad, 32.88 percent in Aurangabad, 34.07 percent in Gaya, 29.02 percent in Nawada and 33.69 percent in Jamui. In this phase, more than 3.7 crore voters will decide the political fate of 1,302 candidates. During the first phase, 27.65 percent voting was recorded till 11 am. In the second phase, the fate of many prominent leaders of both NDA and Grand Alliance will be decided. A total of 45,399 polling stations have been set up for voters, including 5,326 in urban areas and 40,073 in rural areas. In this round, 122 candidates of NDA and 127 candidates of Grand Alliance are in the fray. –IANS JK/Red
