Bhubaneswar, Nov 10 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday expressed deep grief over the death of several civilians in the deadly blast in Delhi this evening and directed the state police to remain on high alert and tighten security measures in major cities and sensitive places across the state. Chief Minister Majhi strongly condemned the incident and said that India has never tolerated such inhuman act and will never tolerate it in future. “The central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will definitely ensure a proper investigation into the incident and bring the culprits to justice,” the Chief Minister said. According to a statement issued by the CM office, CM Majhi called the Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha Police and directed him to make elaborate security arrangements across the state. The Chief Minister advised the Odisha Police to be on full alert in view of the major festivals, especially the famous Bali Yatra festival going on in Cuttack and other places in the state. He also directed that security measures be further tightened in all major cities and sensitive places across the state. Odisha Police has intensified security at important and sensitive places including the 12th century Jagannath temple in Puri, Hirakud Dam, railway stations and other major public places across the state. Puri District Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh, while talking to media persons, said that all the district police officers have been instructed to remain alert. He said that discussions were held with the Coast Guard to keep an eye on coastal security. Singh also said that anti-sabotage and bomb disposal teams have already reached the temple. They have been directed to completely sanitize the areas around the 12th century temple and remove any suspicious vehicle or person found near the Jagannath temple. Puri SP also appealed to the people to immediately inform the police if they come across any suspicious object. Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has started blockade and checking at important places like Bhubaneswar railway stations, hotels etc. –IANS knowledge/donation
