Hyderabad, Nov 10 (IANS) Police were on high alert in Hyderabad on Monday night after a blast near the Red Fort in New Delhi, which left 10 people dead and over a dozen injured. Police personnel were seen checking vehicles and searching people at various points in the three commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda. Various units of the police force have been asked to remain alert and carry out vehicle checks. As a precaution, lodges are also being inspected at some places. Police have urged citizens to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious object or movement of strangers to the police control room on number 100. Security has been tightened at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after the Delhi blast. Security personnel along with dog squad and bomb disposal squad conducted intensive investigation in the airport premises. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has tightened surveillance at the entry points and passengers’ luggage is being thoroughly checked. CISF has already issued high alert at airports, heritage sites, government buildings and other major establishments under its security cover. Security was also tightened at all the railway stations in the city. Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted intensive investigation at Secunderabad, Nampally, Kachiguda and other railway stations. Security personnel were thoroughly checking luggage and searching passengers and visitors. Security was also tightened at all stations of Hyderabad Metro. Meanwhile, police in Andhra Pradesh have also increased security in all major cities and towns in the state. The DGP had instructed all the SPs to speed up security checks. Security has been tightened in Amaravati, Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam and other cities. Police have intensified investigation in the temple town of Tirupati. Vehicles heading towards the Sri Venkateswara temple atop the Tirumala hills were being thoroughly checked. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the affairs of the famous temple, has stepped up surveillance. –IANS ms/dan
