Bhopal, Nov 10 (IANS) Senior BJP leader Narottam Mishra on Monday took a dig at Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, claiming that he will create a world record for the ‘highest number’ of failures in the election battle and ‘ruin’ the party.
Mishra, who was the state home minister in the previous BJP government, claimed that the Congress had lost almost 70 elections under the leadership of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
Mishra said, “Congress leaders and workers have lost confidence in Rahul Gandhi. Since Rahul Gandhi entered active politics in 2004, Congress has lost 70 elections. It seems that he is going to create a world record of 100 defeats in the next few years.”
Mishra made the remarks while responding to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft and protesting against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in several states and union territories, including Madhya Pradesh.
The BJP leader said, “After back-to-back defeats, especially after three consecutive Lok Sabha elections (2014, 2019 and 2024), other Congress leaders and workers have raised doubts on his leadership. He cannot tell the truth as to why Congress lost so many elections under his leadership.”
Responding to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra said the Congress leader was on a “holiday” tour to the hill station (Pachmarhi) and Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR).
He reiterated BJP’s claim that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has realized the results of Bihar elections, that is why he has come to Madhya Pradesh.
Notably, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has visited Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh, where he interacted with senior Congress leaders from the state, and he also addressed a training session of district presidents on November 8 and 9. He also held closed-door meetings with some senior leaders of Madhya Pradesh.
Before leaving Madhya Pradesh on November 9, during a brief interaction with the media, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had said that he had a lot of data on vote theft and that he would expose the alleged manipulation of elections in the country at different times.
LOP Rahul Gandhi, who visited the Satpura Tigers Reserve (STR) on Sunday, has also said that “the SIR exercise is nothing but an attempt by the ruling BJP to cover up vote theft.”
