Gandhinagar, Nov 10 (IANS) Ekta Nagar, home of the world’s tallest statue, the 182-metre Statue of Unity, turned into a picturesque spectacle of lights during the Bharat Parv celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
As officials shared on Monday, major attractions of the area including Jungle Safari, Cactus Garden, Butterfly Garden, Circuit House, Ekta Mall and administrative buildings were lit up with colorful lights, attracting thousands of visitors. The illumination started on Sunday night and will continue for about ten days.
In Indian tradition, light symbolizes the removal of darkness and the presence of spiritual energy. Reflecting this belief, Ekta Nagar shone like a bride, its landscape bathed in vibrant colors and artistic lighting, showcasing India’s unity in diversity. From the massive statue to the Sardar Sarovar Dam, tricolor laser lights illuminated the night sky, turning the area into a vibrant canvas of patriotism and culture. Local artisans and designers contributed to the dazzling setup, blending modern lighting technologies with traditional motifs.
These installations, featuring intricate floral patterns, golden ornamentation and classical motifs, extend over seven kilometers from Ekta Dwar to the Statue of Unity. He also highlighted the cultural richness of India at the ceremony, with folk art, music, handicrafts and traditional cuisine from different states creating a festive atmosphere along the banks of river Narmada. Organized jointly by the Central and State Governments, the event celebrated the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ by uniting visitors through light, art and culture.
In the “Prakash Parva Mandap”, five lighting technologies including LED, RGB neon flex, color laser projection, smart synchronized and solar-powered systems were used to create spectacular decorations. The 530-metre stretch from the main road to the Valley of Flowers features ceiling lights, themed selfie points and photobooths that resemble a galaxy of colours.
The 140 meter long Glow Tunnel displayed themed installations inspired by ISRO’s Chandrayaan Mission, Operation Sindoor, birds, flora, fauna and religious sites of India like Somnath, Dwarka and Dakor. Adding to the grandeur, a dynamic light-and-sound show on the Sardar Sarovar Dam and a laser projection on the Statue of Unity attracted huge crowds, leaving visitors mesmerized by the blend of art, technology and national pride.
