This luxury hotel with its own organic farm in the middle of the beautiful Hamburg mountains has everything a family could need on holiday.

Place

set into picturesque valley Created by the Tauern Nature Reserve salzburg The mountains, with its approximately 25 acres of land, make the hotel feel completely secluded. It’s less than 50 miles from Austria Airport, and the hotel offers pick-up service (€235) if you don’t want to rent a car. The town of Grossarl is a five-minute drive away with an all-day shuttle service that takes you to the lifts in winter.

stretch

The owners have worked hard to ensure that you leave your worries at the door. The hotel is spread over several buildings; The main center is the historic building, which has a charming wood-panelled restaurant, heavy wooden doors and sheepskin rugs over light wooden furniture. More modern buildings – one of which is dedicated to activities with a full-size climbing wall, a basketball court and gaming room; Another home features a massive spa, two indoor pools and water slides – all sensitively designed to match and not detract from the star of the show: the towering mountain range that frames the property. The focal point is the swimming lake surrounded by individual decking areas.

Service

The staff are the perfect mix of friendly and helpful – but not overbearing. Guests are treated to cake pops and a welcome drink upon arrival, dinner locations are pre-assigned with cutlery and paint for the kids, and food arrives fast. For the first few days the staff also act as willing tour guides around the vast complex.

bed and bath

The 46 well-designed suites are clean and minimalist, with pine furniture, white walls and crisp linens. All have a balcony or terrace. Each one makes the most of natural light with large windows to enjoy mountain views. The suites have two or three bedrooms, with bunk beds or single beds for children. Bathrooms have tubs and showers, and the kitchens are well-appointed. The elevator goes right up to your front door, which is a fun feature. As well as the suites, Mor Gut also has two double rooms with similar scenic design.

Food and Drink

There are two dining rooms, each with dark wood, paneled doors and a cozy ambiance. Guests are allocated a table for their stay, which is set up when you arrive (no need to book a time). There’s an excellent children’s buffet, featuring home-cooked, crowd-pleasing dishes like pizza or chicken goujon, while the thoughtful and seasonal adults’ menu ranges from a six-course gourmet menu to a more realistic three courses prepared by Chef Marcus. On Tuesday nights guests are invited to drink fizz and party in the kitchen with a house band dressed in traditional Austrian attire (as the chefs try to do the job). Breakfast is a huge, delicious buffet that features plenty of fresh waffles. Lunch includes a buffet salad and a choice of two main courses. There is cake and an ice cream station available every day at 3pm.
