Patna, November 9 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a strong attack on RJD and Congress on the last day of campaigning for the second phase of Bihar assembly elections and accused the Lalu-Rabri era government of pushing Bihar into jungle raj.
Addressing a rally in Arwal, Shah said Bihar was once plagued by Naxalite violence, and alleged that massacres had taken place during the period 1990-2005.
He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have ended Jungle Raj and freed the state from Naxalism.
Shah reminded that Arwal – which was then part of Jehanabad district – had witnessed several massacres in that era.
Taking aim at the Congress leadership, the Home Minister alleged that Rahul Gandhi made his recent visit to save infiltrators and said that the NDA will identify and expel every single infiltrator from Bihar and the country.
He further claimed that the opposition is treating the infiltrators as a vote bank, while the NDA is supported by the youth and “lakhpati didis”.
Shah also accused the Congress of using Dr BR Ambedkar’s name only for electoral gains and argued that the Congress did not give him due respect while it was in power.
He highlighted the Modi government’s decision to celebrate November 26 as Constitution Day and April 14 as National Harmony Day.
Referring to the first phase of voting, Shah claimed, “Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD and Rahul Gandhi’s Congress have already been wiped out before this election.”
He said, “I urge the voters of Magadh not to allow RJD to make a comeback. Even a small mistake can bring back jungle raj in Bihar.”
Shah also claimed that the Modi-Nitish government had transferred Rs 10,000 to the bank accounts of 1.41 crore Jeevika Didis – women linked to the state’s self-help group network – and promised that if the NDA returned to power, Rs 2 lakh more would be deposited in their accounts over the next two-and-a-half years.
He further listed several development projects, saying the Modi government has revived the Barauni fertilizer plant and the Riga sugar mill, and set up two IT parks, while a textile park is under construction.
He said that NDA has planned to set up 25 new sugar mills in Bihar in the coming days.
Shah alleged that if CPI (ML) and Left parties come to power, they will drive away industries.
Drawing a political analogy, the Union Home Minister said all five NDA allies were fighting the elections together like the five Pandavas, while he alleged that the grand alliance was battling internal strife.
