Patna, Nov 9 (IANS) Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday criticized the Grand Alliance for appointing a “corrupt” leader as its CM face and claimed that only the NDA can give a clean administration to keep Bihar on the path of development.
Addressing an election rally in Bihar, he said, “Those who have already been jailed for corruption and are still facing corruption charges are forming an alliance and contesting the elections against us. Was there no other leader among them who could lead their alliance?”
On November 11, the last day of campaigning for the second and final phase of Bihar assembly elections, Rajnath Singh addressed several rallies, including in Mohania, Ramgarh and Goh.
Cautioning voters against the “communal agenda” of the rivals, the Defense Minister said, “RJD and Congress want to achieve success in politics by breaking the brotherhood of the society in the name of caste and religion.”
In a veiled attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, Rajnath Singh attacked his NDA rivals for alleged corruption and shamelessness in seeking votes despite their “tainted” track records.
The Defense Minister said that a leader should have the courage to say that the day corruption allegations are made against him, he will leave politics.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to introduce Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for welfare schemes, he said, “Corruption cannot be curbed just by giving speeches on it. To curb corruption, there has to be a change in the system and the changes we have brought have been seen by everyone. Now the money is withdrawn from a Delhi bank and it directly reaches your account.”
Hitting back at the grand old party’s allegations, he said, “Congress leaders’ allegation of ‘vote theft’ is false. The votes of the people of Bihar are safe; there has been no theft. Rahul Gandhi is misleading the public by making baseless statements.”
Highlighting the development done in Bihar under the NDA government, he said, “Today the people of the state can proudly invite visitors to NDA’s developed Bihar. But during the RJD rule, the situation was such that it was said, ‘Come to Bihar, we will break your head’.”
He said, “Today, changes are clearly visible in Bihar and big changes are visible. We have to make Bihar developed, successful and prosperous. India will develop only after Bihar develops.”
He said, “Leaving behind RJD’s ‘Jungle Raj’, Nitish Kumar ji is rapidly taking Bihar forward on the path of development.” He said that NDA is not just a group of parties but an alliance of good intentions.
He said, “When the RJD government was in power and Lalu ji was the chief minister, it was the era of ‘Lalten’ and ‘Jungle Raj’ and our NDA government has been successful in taking Bihar out of that era.”
