Many people are on bail but are being shameless in asking for votes: Rajnath Singh’s sarcasm on Grand Alliance

Patna, Nov 9 (IANS) Union Defense Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Sunday attacked the RJD-Congress-led grand alliance over its alleged involvement in several scams and ‘brazen and unrestrained’ conduct and campaigning for the Bihar assembly elections.

Addressing a mega election rally in Aurangabad’s Goh, the senior BJP leader attacked RJD and Congress over corruption, saying many leaders have been accused of corruption and have even spent time in jail, yet are campaigning independently to get elected to the Assembly.

He said many people are still out on bail, yet he appeals to the public to vote for him – an apparent reference to Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, as both have been accused in scams and are on bail.

He said, “Our alliance believes that if someone is accused of corruption, he should immediately resign from his post.” Citing the example of Lal Krishna Advani, he lamented the irony of politics that in today’s time he has no meaning and importance.

“Is there no other leader in the opposition under whose leadership this alliance can contest the elections?” he asked.

Rajnath described NDA as not an alliance of parties, but a group of parties with good intentions.

He told the crowd, “The manifesto we have issued is not just a manifesto; it is an irrevocable promise. Look at our manifesto, we have fulfilled what we promised.”

He said that when there is a gap between what is said and what is done, it creates a crisis of trust. He said that this election will decide whether there will be jungle raj in Bihar or developed Bihar. Patna has changed a lot in the last 20 years.

He said, “We have to make Bihar a developed Bihar. If Bihar develops, India will also develop.”

He took a dig at Tejashwi Yadav’s promise of providing employment to every household and questioned his understanding of mathematics.

“He said he can do it, but we can’t. We have decided to expand industries here,” he said.

He said wherever NDA members go, they say, “Come to our developed Bihar,” while RJD and Congress members say, “Come to Bihar, we will put a gun in your head.”

Further throwing light on NDA’s promises and their realization, Rajnath Singh said that a grand temple of Janaki Maiya is being built in Sitamarhi.
