Pune, Nov 8 (IANS) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that if he had known about the land transaction involving his son Parth Pawar in Pune’s posh Mundwa-Koregaon Park area, he would not have allowed it to happen.
He also said that there is no sale deed for such land (Mahar Watan), but now it has to be seen how the transaction took place.
He said that a committee headed by Vikas Kharge, Additional Chief Secretary, State Revenue Department, will thoroughly investigate the matter.
He was speaking to reporters a day after the announcement that the cancellation of the sale deed of a 40-acre land transaction worth Rs 300 crore in Pune’s Mundwa-Koregaon Park area, which involved Amedia Enterprises LLP, a company linked to his son Parth Pawar, has created a major controversy in state politics.
It also came to light that stamp duty of Rs 21 crore on the sale deed was also waived.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar said on Saturday, “The state government should not suffer loss due to such transactions. Some people showed courage and how they did this, if investigated, the truth will come out. How did a transaction which cannot be registered happen? A sale deed cannot be made in this case. It is not yet known how this transaction happened. We have to see if there was any pressure from anyone in this matter.”
On another land transaction involving his son Parth Pawar in Pune’s Bopodi area, the deputy CM said, “We had no connection with anyone in Bopodi, but our family name was mentioned in it. I was not aware of this transaction, if I had known I would not have allowed it to happen.”
He said that a six-member committee under the leadership of Additional Chief Secretary of the State Revenue Department will conduct a thorough investigation and the truth will come out.
Responding to a question as to why an FIR was not lodged against his son Parth Pawar in this matter, Deputy CM Pawar said, “I saw the statement of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule in which he mentioned that an FIR has been lodged against those who were present at the registration office at the time of this transaction. The truth will come out within a month after the investigation of this matter.”
Incidentally, the FIR does not directly name Parth Pawar, but targets three persons accused of collusion.
The names mentioned in the FIR include Digvijay Patil, authorized signatory at Amadiya Enterprises LLP; Parth Pawar’s cousin, Sheetal Tejwani, holder of power of attorney for the descendants of the original landlords; Facilitated the sale and sub-registrar Ravindra Taru registered the deal.
The revenue department has already suspended Taru and tehsildar Suryakant Yewale for their role in the transaction.
Earlier, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s uncle and NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar, while reacting to the Pune land deal controversy involving Amedia Enterprises LLP linked to Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar, said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has claimed that this is a serious issue and hence investigation should be done in this matter and the real picture should be presented before the society.
Pawar said, “I cannot say anything about this. But the Chief Minister has called it a serious matter, hence it should be investigated and the real picture should be presented to the society.”
He said, “The state government has formed an inquiry committee on this. Therefore, it has to be seen what comes out from the report of this committee.”
