Indore, Nov 8 (IANS) Two youths lost their lives when a rashly speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a motorcycle carrying three friends near a private hospital in Indore’s Lasudia police station area late on Friday night.
The victims, identified as 23-year-old Ayush and 21-year-old Krishna Pal, residents of Mundi and Chaigaon (Khandwa district) respectively, succumbed to injuries at opposite locations. His companion Shreyansh is battling for life and death in a critical condition in the government MYH hospital.
Eyewitnesses said that around 2 am, a scene of complete devastation was witnessed as the speeding vehicle hit the bike without any warning, causing the biker to fall on the asphalt. Police officials said that the impact of the collision was so strong that paramedics declared Ayush and Krishna Pal dead on reaching the hospital.
Other sources said that their bodies remained abandoned in front of the hospital for half an hour until the police arrived. Shreyansh, believed to be in his 20s, suffered multiple fractures, severe head injury and internal injuries. He was immediately taken to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH), where doctors put him on a ventilator.
Emphasizing the urgency of the next 48 hours, the treating doctor at MYH said, “His condition is critical; we are doing everything possible.” Friends and relatives have gathered outside the ICU, holding vigils and praying for a miracle. Lasudia police station swung into action within minutes of the call and cordoned off the accident site.
Authorities seized the crashed SUV, its front part shattered like an indictment against the absent driver. “The vehicle has been seized and we have registered an FIR under section 106 of the Indian Penal Code (304 A of IPC) causing death by negligence and section 125 (B) (337 of IPC) causing hurt by negligence,” police officials confirmed.
Forensic teams scour the road in search of clues – brake marks missing, tires fresh – while CCTV footage from nearby pharmacies and a hospital is being reviewed to uncover the fugitive motorist.
Police are verifying the registration of the vehicle and its owner and are appealing for tips from the public. The identity of the owner remains unknown, leading to speculation of a hit-and-run cover-up.
Ayush, an aspiring engineer from a humble family in Vijay Nagar, and Krishna Pal, a recent college graduate dreaming of a career in IT, were on their way home from a casual walk when fate intervened.
