New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS) Vande Bharat Express was launched in Firozpur on Saturday, where Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu highlighted the importance of the new service for the border district.

Speaking at the event, Bittu said, “Neglected by many previous governments, Ferozepur will get all the necessary attention and resources under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.”

Vande Bharat Express is part of the government’s effort to modernize India’s railway infrastructure, promising faster, more comfortable and convenient travel.

Describing the modern features of Vande Bharat, North Eastern Railway DRM Gaurav Aggarwal said, “These trains have modern coaches with more legroom, automatic door closers and advanced toilets, providing a more comfortable and convenient travel experience to the passengers.”

Prime Minister Modi flagged off four Vande Bharat trains on Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, Ferozepur-Delhi and Ernakulam-Bengaluru routes with an aim to increase connectivity and reduce travel time for passengers.

Underlining the importance of connecting Firozpur directly to the national capital, former minister Rana Gurmeet Sodhi said, “Malwa is directly connected to the national capital Delhi with one of the fastest and best trains in the world. This introduction from the border area was much needed. This will boost trade, have a positive impact on the economy and is an important step. We thank Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for this initiative.”

Local business leaders also welcomed the launch. Sanjay Gupta, state president of Adarsh Vyapar Mandal, said, “Today four Vande Bharat trains are being launched, which will increase rail connectivity between all major cities of Uttar Pradesh. This will boost trade, industry and tourism, which will significantly benefit the people and businesses of the state.”

We are extremely grateful to Prime Minister Modi for bringing this service.”

The launch of Vande Bharat Express at Firozpur is expected to boost economic activity, improve regional connectivity and provide faster, more comfortable travel for passengers, marking an important step towards the development of India’s border districts.
