If location is your number one luxury, the Elounda Peninsula will appeal with its spacious all-suite or villa accommodation on eastern Crete’s Mirabello Bay, two sister properties and a shared coastal complex with a Six Senses Spa.

Place

Elounda Peninsula – one of the three Elounda Collections hotel – Occupies a tract of land surrounded by attractive diving, crystal-blue waters, with a group of cove beaches that offer spectacular sea swimming. Multiple restaurants, pools, sports facilities and a 2,000 square meter spa spread across the estate, making it the ultimate luxury destination. Type of Resort It’s hard to leave him. However, should guests wish to sample local life, Shisma Alloundus and his movement Both are within a 20-minute drive. The nearest airport, Heraklion, is just over an hour away.

The resort’s long, low-sloping structure fills the peninsula on which it is located. The retro-looking architecture mixes local stone with white-painted concrete, the same dark stone extending to the lounger-decked docks that wrap around the bijou sandy coves. Inside the main building, the look is more traditional (stained wood, beige tones, a wine cellar) with manor house aspirations that give it a rustic club feel. However that doesn’t mean it’s stuffy – it’s sophisticated, yes, but supremely comfortable.

Service

The warm welcome provided by the front desk team makes a good first impression upon check-in. Elsewhere, service is unremarkable: efficient but unobtrusive. However, the formula certainly works – the hotel has a very high percentage of repeat guests (one couple liked it so much they even had their ashes buried there).

Almost every suite and villa has its own private pool

Almost every suite and villa has its own private pool ,Elounda Peninsula,

All 54 suites and villas come with ocean views as standard, of which only five (the entry-level junior suites) do not have their own pool. Each unit is named after a Greek island and decorated in pastel colors with splashes of sea-blue. Marble bathrooms have walk-in showers and separate tubs, and are just as large as the rest of the suite. Every other room category (Collection One-Bedroom Suite and above) has a pool and families will appreciate those with multiple bedrooms or direct beach access.

The resort’s traditional vibe is reflected in the a la carte breakfast menu served in the indoor/outdoor Calypso, with popular choices including French toast, steak and eggs and full English (as well as yogurt-based bowls or shakshuka). For lunch, attention turns to the cuisine-with-a-twist at Elise’s Taverna, located on the beach. Dinner is also served here, as well as at Sumosan (contemporary Japanese) and Il Boro Tuscan Bistro. For further options, hop on a (complimentary) water taxi to four other Elounda Collection restaurants (including buffets).

In addition to the main and children’s pools (both beach front), there is an indoor, ocean-view pool and a great gym. A superior gym can be found at the limestone-and-wood-clad Six Senses Spa, which is shared by all three hotels, along with a 9-hole golf course and water-sports center. For something truly special, charter the resort’s yacht for day trips around the bay (or even travel as far as Sardinia).
