Mumbai, Nov 7 (IANS) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the State Council Ambadas Danve on Friday demanded that the Maharashtra government appoint a committee headed by a retired judge to thoroughly investigate the transaction of 40 acres of ‘Mahar Watan’ land (classified as government land) in Pune’s high-profile Mundwa Koregaon Park area involving Amadiya Enterprises linked to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar. Danve has said that the Chief Minister’s announcement of conducting an investigation by a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department Vikas Kharge is not enough. He reiterated the call for an investigation by a retired judge.
He further said that the investigation should be done on the lines of the one-member Judicial Commission of Justice DS Zoting, which was set up in 2016 to investigate allegations against then BJP Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse of purchasing a three-acre plot in Maharashtra Industrial Development Zone (MICD) by misusing his position as Revenue Minister. He demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar till an inquiry is conducted by a retired judge.
Danve said in his post (translated) in Marathi on Should be given.” @AjitPawarSpeaks.”
He further said, “On the lines of the Justice Jotting Committee, the Chief Minister should also appoint a committee in the Koregaon Park case. This is our clear demand.”
Amid the growing controversy, the State Inspector General and Controller of Stamps lodged an FIR at the Bavdhan police station in Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad area late on Thursday night to probe alleged irregularities in land transactions worth crores of rupees involving government-owned property. The deal, executed in May 2025, has raised suspicions of corruption, undervaluation and stamp duty evasion, potentially causing significant financial losses to the state exchequer.
Incidentally, the FIR does not directly name Parth Pawar, but targets three persons accused of collusion. The names mentioned in the FIR are – Digvijay Patil, partner, authorized signatory at Amadiya Enterprises LLP; Parth Pawar’s cousin, Sheetal Tejwani, holder of power of attorney for the descendants of the original land owners, who facilitated the sale; and sub-registrar Ravindra Taru, who registered the deal. The revenue department has already suspended Taru and tehsildar Suryakant Yewale for their role in the transaction.
The FIR has been registered under sections 316(5) and 318(2) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) 2023 (relating to cheating and criminal breach of trust) and section 59 of the Maharashtra Stamp Act (for evasion of stamp duty).
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president Ajit Pawar on Thursday distanced himself from the high-value land transaction in Pune’s Mundwa-Koregaon Park involving his son Parth Pawar, saying he had nothing remotely to do with the deal.
Expressing support for the ongoing investigation ordered by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Pawar said that he (CM) is right to do so. Ajit Pawar stressed his commitment to legality and called for strict action if any abuses were found.
The Deputy Chief Minister further said, “Till date, I have never given instructions to the officials that my close or distant relatives will benefit. I have never called the officials and given any order. On the contrary, as the Deputy Chief Minister, I will tell all the officials and employees that if anyone uses my name for wrongdoing or does something that is not in accordance with the rules, I will not support them. I am a person who works within the ambit of law and rules.”
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar also clarified, saying, “I have no connection with this deal and I have not instructed any official to benefit relatives or party workers. If anyone has misused my name in the case, strict action should be taken against them.” He told reporters that he would comment further on the controversy on Friday after seeing all the papers and details of the land deal.
