Bhuj, November 5 (IANS) Gujarat BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma on Wednesday praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “If anyone has converted disaster into opportunity, it is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Speaking at a grand felicitation ceremony in Kutch, Vishwakarma lauded the PM’s role in rebuilding Kutch after the 2001 earthquake and turning it into a thriving hub of industry, culture and tourism.
Addressing a huge gathering of party workers, Vishwakarma reminded that when Narendra Modi was the chief minister, he had vowed to rebuild Kutch, adding that this promise has been fulfilled.
“The credit for the revival of Kutch goes to Narendra Modi,” he said, stressing that the region, which was once devastated by earthquakes, now stands as a model of resilience and progress. He said Kutch has attracted investments of over Rs 1.4 lakh crore with its handicrafts, tourism and industries flourishing globally.
Vishwakarma also hit out at the Congress and accused it of ignoring the sufferings of Gujarat while it was in power.
“When the Congress was in power, it never saw the pain of the people of Gujarat,” he said. “It was Narendra Modi, as Chief Minister, who fought for the Sardar Sarovar Dam and ensured that water reached Kevadiya to Kutch within just 17 days of taking charge as Prime Minister.”
He emphasized that Narendra Modi’s initiatives like Vibrant Gujarat Summit and Rann Utsav have brought global recognition to Kutch and generated employment on a large scale. “From camel carts to aircraft, everything is now made in Gujarat,” he said.
Vishwakarma lauded the Prime Minister for promoting local artisans and using handmade products to welcome foreign dignitaries, calling him a “true brand ambassador of India’s craftsmen”.
He also praised Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and his ministers for directly connecting with the farmers affected by the unseasonal rains.
He said, “The government has decided to start purchasing crops on MSP from November 9 to support the distressed farmers.” He said that BJP fulfills every promise made to the voters.
Senior BJP leader and MP Vinod Chavda lauded Narendra Modi’s unwavering efforts during the rehabilitation of Kutch, saying, “When others turned their backs, Modi stood by Kutch and left no stone unturned in its reconstruction.”
Vishwakarma was welcomed at the event with 1.51 lakh books which will be distributed to needy students, a symbolic gesture of promoting education over wasteful expenditure.
The event, marked by a massive bike rally and participation of saints, party leaders and workers, reflected the deep roots and organizational strength of the BJP in the region.
Vishwakarma ended his address with a call for unity and vigilance, saying, “Those who try to disturb the peace of Gujarat should know – the people of this state recognize the impostors and will not let them come to power for the next 25 years.”
