UK equivalent of Hallmark films john lewis The Christmas TV advert has finally arrived – officially marking the start of the festive period. After last year’s lackluster reception, the veteran is back with an emotional tale of a father and son’s relationship, set to a timeless soundtrack.

The ad has introduced us to a number of memorable characters over the years (including Buster the Bouncing Dog and Edgar the Excitable Dragon), but this addition to 2025 has a more adult feel to it. On Christmas Day, a father sadly walks past his son wearing headphones. While cleaning the clothes thrown under the tree, he finds a gift addressed to him from his son.

Inside, it’s a vinyl of nineties dance tracks that fills him with memories of his youth spent at the club. Across the dance floor, he sees his son who transforms first into a child, then an infant in his arms. Reflecting the passing of time and the power of music, the heartwarming finale features father and son embracing near the Christmas tree.
