New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS) A 22-year-old man was shot and injured in Delhi’s Geeta Colony area on Monday, with police suspecting a money dispute. The officers provided this information.
According to the police, at around 10.10 pm, information was received from Dr. Hedgewar Hospital that Aditya, son of Subhash, resident of Geeta Colony, has been admitted to the hospital due to injuries sustained during a fight. He was reportedly brought to the hospital by his uncle Murari Sharma.
Meanwhile, Geeta Colony police station officials informed the duty staff that the injured had been shot, following which the Station House Officer (SHO) and other policemen reached the spot. Police said blood stains were found on the road near an ATM.
“Interrogation at the spot revealed that injured Aditya had come to the area with his wife Bhumi to eat ‘momo’ when he sustained injuries on his back,” a senior police officer said.
Police said the crime scene has been preserved, and the SHO, along with other officials, later went to Dr Hedgewar Hospital, where Aditya was undergoing treatment. Upon investigation, it was found that he was shot on his back and the bullet was stuck in his spinal cord.
During preliminary interrogation, the victim’s wife told the police that her husband had a criminal background and three to four acquaintances had threatened her during the day over a money-related dispute.
“She said her husband’s associates had demanded her to return their money on Monday afternoon,” the officer said.
As per police records, the injured man has a criminal history and was earlier arrested in a robbery case registered at Preet Vihar police station (FIR no. 242/25) in June 2025 under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
“Prima facie, it appears that the incident took place over a financial dispute between the injured and his associates,” the officer said.
Police said Aditya is conscious but have not yet revealed the names of those involved in the firing. The case is being investigated as attempt to murder.
A team from Geeta Colony police station has been deployed to identify and trace the accused persons. CCTV footage of nearby areas is being examined and forensic teams have inspected the crime scene.
Further investigation is underway.
