A Minnesota man has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend at a home where several children were present, according to authorities.
Randy Thomas Zimmerman, 45, was taken into custody in connection with the murders of Justin Reinhard, 50, and his 32-year-old girlfriend, whose name has not been released by authorities, in the small town of Hanska, Minnesota. Mankato Free Press Informed. Authorities have not said what charges Zimmerman faces.
A boy called 911 around 4:22 a.m. Sunday To report that his mother’s ex-boyfriend “broke into their house and shot his mother,” the Brown County Sheriff’s Office said. In Hanska, a small town of 165 people about 108 miles southwest of Minneapolis, neighbors remembered Reinhardt for his kindness and willingness to help.
Reinhardt’s neighbor Sarah Sandtorf said Mankato Free Press Her home surveillance camera caught the suspect’s car parking across the street from her house just after 4 a.m. She thought it was strange before realizing what happened.
“No one will ever drive on this road,” he said.
Another neighbor, Dick Smith, told local news outlets that Reinhardt’s girlfriend had recently moved in with him.
